It is with a heavy heart that I have to tell you that Daryl passed away April 20/2015 .....Daryl and I were married for 49 years so I heard many stories about the good ole days .....wishing you all the best.......
adding a rider to my earlier post my dentist on Holloway Road is next to Joe Meeks old studio, which has a Black Plaque on the wall outside. In The Coronet public house they have a corner dedicated to him.Someone has also dedicated a bench to his memory on the pavement, so he is not forgotten. All the local musicians know about Joe Meek and there used to be a get together once a year with Heinz, The Honeycombs etc in the Lord Nelson pub. Sadly now a gastro joint with canned music to munch to. Still grafiti though on the odd wall.
One of my closest friends Malcom Tyrrel lived 8 doors down from Dave Millen on Deepdale road.He was in a band named The Modern Blues Quartet. I was in Malcs when The Puppets arrived back from the Air force tour of Cyprus. I also enjoyed what was stuffed into the back of the Amps and the huge Hooka Pipe they must have bought in Libya. It has a bowl that if it was filled would put you on your back for a week ! I had forgotten all about until i read the obituary of jinner. wonderful memories and Malc ( Tans ) still lives near Deepdale road to this day.
A jolly good show with Beds Are burning, Thanks, Des!!
