Born in 1955, I´ve been a musician in Preston for most of my life but never reached the recognition (or is it notoriety) of the likes of Bob Johnson, Terry Nightingale, Greg Slater etc. I started in Brass Bands at a young age and progressed to French Horn in orchestras in my teens. (I had the happy opportunity to meet up with Fran Ashcroft in the Cedarwood one day while I had my horn with me and he went home and wrote a song featuring the horn in the chorus and then had me in to record it). I then progressed onto Bass guitar which I then played badly for 30 or so years. I only came back to brass a few years ago when my dad died and I inherited a bands worth of instruments. I now play trumpet and cornet and am principal cornet for two local concert bands. See http://www.baxendenconcertband.co.uk.
